Your wedding in our Gardens

A gorgeous garden backdrop for ceremonies and wedding photography

We have two wedding sites that offer unique vistas and experiences.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

We are working on garden developments in 2018 - 2019 which will involve construction in some areas of the Gardens.

At times this work will cause visual and noise disturbance throughout the gardens. The Perennial Garden wedding site will be closed for bookings during this work. The Herb Garden and Rock Garden wedding sites will be affected by the construction work, but are still available for hire. Any bookings made will be done so understanding the work will be undertaken from Monday through to Saturday and hence could negatively impact on functions booked.

Hire

Outdoor wedding sites are available daily for ceremonies. Bookings are available in two hour blocks between 9am – 4pm.  

Where receptions are being held at the Gardens the reception venue hire can be extended through to midnight where Café Miko is catering. Extra surcharges for functions may be incurred after 4pm for extra cleaning and security requirements. These charges are available on request and dependent on function needs.

 

The Perennial Garden is unavailable due to pathway development. A new function garden adjacent to the Perennial Garden will be available later in 2019. For more information about this garden contact us in August 2019.

Bookings

All wedding enquiries must be directed to our Huakaiwaka visitor centre staff. They will advise full terms and conditions of use and any extra costs incurred due to extended hire times. Phone 09 267 1457 or email botanic.gardens@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz

Catering

Our exclusive onsite caterers, Café Miko can take the stress out of organising your wedding and have a range of catering options available.

Outside caterers are not permitted at the Gardens.

Wedding photography

If you are holding your wedding ceremony or reception at the Auckland Botanic Gardens you are welcome to use the Gardens for your photographs at no extra cost.

Fees apply for use of the Gardens for all other wedding photography, and must be booked through the Huakaiwaka visitor centre staff. Our staff can confirm what garden activities are scheduled and can advise availability of sites and provide suggestions of garden spots that are looking good seasonally. Contact our staff for more information. 

Access

Access to the wedding sites is not possible by vehicle. Limited mobility options are available (enquire with the Huakaiwaka visitor centre staff).

The Friends of the Gardens also offer the facility for wedding parties to book the Wiri Rambler.
