Lovely for winter colour in the front of borders in wet beds.

Physical characteristics

An evergreen, clump-forming, perennial that grows to around 1m tall and 0.3m wide.

Flowers and foliage

Leaves form basal rosettes and are deep green and long tapered and channelled. Flowers are produced in dense terminal racemes in late winter to spring and are small yellow or cream in colour and star-shaped.

Preferred site

Best planted in full sun with moist soil. This plant will perform in both damp clay and peat soils.

Maintenance tips

Easy to maintain. Remove old leaves as they die down. Mulch annually with an organic mulch to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
