Storyteller Michael O'Leary
Mike O’Leary is a storyteller from England, with strong Irish connections, who is visiting Aotearoa this January, mainly because he is. Well, he tells us that he wants to see more of the world before he pops his clogs, and where could be more beautiful than Aotearoa? He also believes that it is never too late to learn, and he doesn’t just want to talk, he wants to listen.
Mike is very interactive, and all the stories that he tells are true, except for the ones that aren’t – there may be dragons, goblins, mermaids, giants, wazzocks, shape-shifters or even Jenny Greenteeth – who knows? His stories are based in the landscapes of his part of southern England, and in the west of Ireland, where he is often to be found.
He is experienced in working with people of all ages, from little ones to elders, and has a fondness for helping stories along with a bit of music – traditional stories and music were never separate.
Oh, and he doesn’t take himself too seriously.
